You can travel to Europe by ferry from nearby Newhaven or via the Channel Tunnel from Folkstone. This safe, welcoming, cosmopolitan campus offers easy access to a supermarket, post office, bank, launderettes, bookshop, health centre and more. It houses a diverse range of cafés and bars. Housing & Meals
Accommodation is in the University of Sussex East Slope Residence and students can choose from rooms with an en suite or shared bathroom. En suite rooms may be limited and will be allocated in the order that we receive each student’s formal acceptance of their summer school place. You will be notified if your choice of accommodation is unavailable and rent charges will be amended accordingly.
If you arrive in the UK before the summer school starts you'll need to organise your own place to stay as we are unable to accommodate you.
You will have your own room and be provided with:
a bed, duvet and duvet cover, sheet, towel, pillow and pillowcase.
There is a free wi-fi service called eduroam available in your residences and most of the campus buildings. You will also have an ethernet connection (wired connection) in your room. Some laptops do not have ethernet ports and you'll need to buy an adaptor to connect. Instructions on how to connect to eduroam and through an ethernet connection will be provided when you arrive on campus. There are also more than 900 PCs around campus if you'd prefer not to bring your laptop.
Kitchen facilities:
Our accommodation is self-catered and you can buy groceries from nearby supermarkets such as Asda and Aldi. You will share a kitchen with other people who live in your flat. The kitchen includes:
a refrigerator and freezer, stove, kitchen supplies (pots, pans, and cutlery), microwave, oven, and dining table.
If you don't fancy cooking every night there are places to eat on campus. There is also a meal plan available for summer school students, where you can pre-load funds on to a 'munch money' card. Food and beverages can be purchased using the card on campus.
Find out more about the
meal plan and munch money card.
There are also places to eat out in Brighton.
